Celebrating the Microsoft Business Applications Community at Summit North America 2023 was full of insights, inspiration, and learning. Throughout the week LBMC Technology Solutions, a platinum sponsor of the event, shared these topics:

Business Central – Just the Basics! Posting Flows Unraveled

Sandy Wickman, LBMC Technology Solutions Senior Business Consultant for GP and BC, on Tuesday afternoon demonstrated the simple yet powerful use of the posting setups in Business Central thereby streamlining the ongoing transaction posting processes.

In this session, Sandy made evident that a clear definition of business requirements is the right place to begin when setting up the posting groups such that reporting is also made most informative.

How to Build a Smartlist that Shows Applied Documents in Dynamics GP

Natalie Avery, LBMC Technology Solutions Dynamics GP Sr. Consultant – Eastern Time Zone, on Tuesday afternoon led a session for GP users who would like to see where their money is going or coming from. Out-of-the-box GP does not give the users a good report with visibility into the invoices that their checks are paying. Natalie wanted to arm them with some skills to accomplish this for themselves.

LBMC Technology Solutions has received many requests for this report.

Contrary to Belief, Management Reporter is Still in Use and Consolidations are the Rage

Deborah Gernentz, LBMC Technology Solutions Senior Business Consultant – Great Plains, on Tuesday afternoon led a session on how to report for multiple legal entities and how to produce a consolidated report.

With so many companies having multiple legal entities as well as buying other entities, consolidations with eliminations are becoming more important when a company reports their financial status.

The session discussed how to leverage Management Reporter to build detailed consolidation reports with eliminations.

Inventory in Dynamics GP – Control is possible!

Sandy on Thursday morning led a session designed for companies who manage inventory. Several setup best practices were shared along with day to day validation practices to improve accuracy.

It can be difficult to know what GP system settings can impact inventory accuracy, so Sandy presented detail on some important settings that will impact inventory control. Disallowing any ability to transact quantities not available in inventory further defines compliance.

Sandy focused on three areas: Configuration settings, defining user allowed parameters to ensure their transaction accuracy, and finally how to locate any errors or discrepancies.

GP Navigation 101+

Bryan Wilton, LBMC Technology Solutions Vice President – Sales, on Thursday afternoon shared a session designed for new users to the Dynamics GP system.

“Maybe [new users] who joined a company or organization that uses Dynamics GP have received some on-the-job training, but I wanted them to come away with some ‘tips and tricks’, or shortcuts, on how to drive and navigate through the software,” said Wilton.

In addition to the above topics, Sandy also participated in panel discussions with GP experts to field any attendee questions on these three areas:

Ask Us Anything – Finance (Thursday Afternoon)

Ask Us Anything – Payables (Tuesday morning)

Ask Us Anything – Sales (Friday morning)

Participants could ask any questions they chose to, and any one of the three panel experts could then demonstrate within GP the answers available for consideration. So, attendee questions were not only answered, but demonstrated within the GP software providing the most comprehensive ability to use the recommendations effectively.
